Randi went out of town to visit a friend this weekend. The fact that she left for a couple days isn't altogether strange. She has done so a few times since the baby was born. However, what makes this trip different is the fact that the baby stayed with me! It is the first time Randi has slept away from the baby and thus the first time I have been the sole care provider for the little one. I must say, we really miss Randi/Mommy (obviously), but we have had a lot of fun together.
Randi didn't seem overly concerned about leaving the baby with me, though I'm thinking maybe she should have. Yesterday I was streaming Netflix on the Wii when baby grabbed the Wii controller and started pressing buttons. I ignored it because I wasn't really watching the show that was on anyway. So baby exited out of the show that was playing and turned on another one.
Once I realized she had started another show, I decided I better look up and make sure it wasn't something inappropriate. I found myself quite impressed when I realized baby had selected a film called "The Baby's Room." I thought, "wow, how smart is my daughter? Only 14 months old and she knows just what movies are made for her!"
For some reason, my first thought was that a movie called "The Baby's Room" would undoubtedly be filled with pink unicorns jumping over rainbows and kissing babies on their forehead while the babies dream about flying on the backs of cuddly purple elephants. Fortunately for me (and my daughter) the more rational part of me decided to review my original thought process. Turns out "The Baby's Room" is a Spanish horror film where weird paranormal stuff goes down in...you guessed it...a baby's room.
