Special Day

For Alec's birthday we were able to have a date night thanks to one of our wonderful friends here who took care of our little one.

We had dinner and then went to a movie, but not the one we thought we were going to see. We were in our seats for our first movie choice when about 5 minutes into it I smelled something funny. If you know me well, you know I have a very keen nose. Sometimes I smell things that aren't there. I thought that was maybe what was happening here since Alec said he didn't smell anything. I was pretty sure I was smelling pot though, and eventually Alec smelled it too. Then I turned around and saw the blazing blunt a few rows back. After living here for two years, it wasn't a huge surprise. I'm sighing dramatically right now just thinking about it. I've kept a whole list of the weird stuff that goes on around here and this experience is just the tip of the iceberg.

Needless to say we were kind of annoyed because this would only have been the 3rd movie we've gone to all year (it's not super easy going out these days), it's Alec's birthday, and this is the movie he wanted to see!!! Can't you go feel entitled to do whatever you want somewhere else? Seriously! That is just plain rude! But more so, it was really dumb. You think you can just go into a closed space and think people are not going to notice you're smoking pot?

Anyway, we ended up catching a different movie and still had a great time. And the fun didn't stop there. We came home for present and cake! (yup, just one present, but it was a big one!)


I finally caved and bought this big boy what he's really wanted for a while. After he unwrapped the Wii, he didn't waste any time.


Go ahead birthday boy, play to your hearts desire. You deserve it.
