One of my favorite things about cold weather is the hot drinks that warm you up: apple cider, hot chocolate, and chai -tea. Yes, chai without the tea is just as good, or maybe even better! Here's a recipe I found and tweaked a little. I'm calling it Momron Chai (the drink formerly known as Milk and Sugar with Spices). I make it in the Cocoa Grande my mother-in-law gave us for Christmas last year and it works perfectly. Try it out!
Ingredients1/2 c dry milk powder
1/2 c powdered non-dairy creamer
2/3 c french vanilla flavored non-dairy creamer
2/3 c sugar
1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/4 tsp ground ginger
3/4 tsp nutmeg
3/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/8 tsp white pepper
Directions
1. In a large bowl combine milk powder, non-dairy creamer, vanilla flavored creamer, and sugar. Stir in all other spices. In a blender, food processor or coffee grinder blend one cup at a time until mixture is the consistency of fine powder.
2. To serve: Stir 3 tablespoons of mixture into a mug (8 oz or so in the cocoa grande) of hot milk (or water if you prefer).
Obviously you can add more or less of the mixture to your cup in order to spice it up or tone it down.
Enjoy!
